Black Friday Shopping in Minneapolis and St. Paul

By , About.com Guide

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is usually the busiest shopping day of the year. Here's when local malls and retailers will be opening for Black Friday shopping.

Many local independent businesses are closed for the Thanksgiving weekend, so their staff can enjoy the holiday too, but just as many will be open on Black Friday. Don't forget about our unique local stores for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts!

Alberville Premium Outlets

Alberville Premium Outlets, a mall with about 100 outlet stores, is about 35 northeast of Minneapolis. The mall will open at midnight on November 27, and some stores in the mall open a couple of hours earlier, at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.

Mall of America

The Mall of America has extended hours, opening at 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Other Malls in the Twin Cities

Most local malls are opening early on Black Friday.

The Rosedale Center in Roseville opens the doors at 5 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The Southdale Center in Edina opens at 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Maplewood Mall is open from 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Woodbury Lakes opens at 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
The Northtown Mall in Blaine is open from 7 a.m - 9 p.m.
The Burnsville Center opens at 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. and JCPenney at the mall opens even earlier: 4 a.m. - 11 p.m.

The Galleria in Edina, and Gaviidae Common in downtown Minneapolis are open but with their regular Friday opening hours.

Black Friday Adverts

Most retailers don't officially release their adverts containing Black Friday deals until Thanksgiving day. But websites like black-friday.net and bfads.net have previews and early released adverts.

The Pioneer Press and Star Tribune newspapers will both carry Black Friday adverts.
