Donating a Bed in Minneapolis

Are there any organizations who will collect a bed in Minneapolis and St. Paul?

If you'd like your unneeded bed to a needy family, you can donate it to one of these organizations.

Bridging used to collect furniture from some areas for free, but no longer do. Bridging distributes furniture to individuals and families in need. They will collect furniture from any location in the Twin Cities metro area. There is a fee for collection - fees start at $75 if the items are curbside or accessible in the garage, and start at $140 if the items need to be removed from a home. The value of your donation is tax deductible.

You can bring beds, furniture and other household items to Bridging's donation centers in Bloomington and Roseville. There's no charge to drop off items, and donations are tax deductible.

Arc Value Village also discontinued their pickup service, but accept donations of beds and other furniture at their stores in Richfield, New Hope, Brooklyn Center and Saint Paul. The furniture is sold in Arc's stores and sales benefits people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Call ahead before bringing furniture to check that the store can accept it. Donations are tax deductible.

Giving a Bed Away

Have someone pick up a bed, or any furniture from you for free, by posting it on a message board. You'll usually find someone to pick up usable furniture within a few days. The etiquette usually is that the person who wants the item will pick it up.

Craigslist has a very busy free section.

Or, put your item on Twin Cities Free Market.
