Snowkiting on Minneapolis' Lakes

Take a pair of skis or a snowboard, a parachute-type device, strap yourself to both of them, and you can wing across Minneapolis' frozen lakes. Lake Calhoun, Lake Minnetonka, and White Bear Lakes are the local kiting lakes, and Minneapolis kiting community organization LAKAWA give kiteboarding lessons to introduce newcomers safely to the sport. Or simply marvel at the brave souls darting about out on the lake from the safety of the lakeshore path on a winter day walk.
