The trail can still be followed over Hiawatha Avenue if you miss that contact with the cars. The route crossing the road is slightly shorter and doesn't involve the little climb over the bridge...

The graceful Martin Olav Sabo suspension bridge carries bike and pedestrian traffic over busy Hiawatha Avenue. Prior to the bridge opening in 2007, Midtown Greenway users had to cross seven lanes of Hiawatha Avenue traffic.
