Even though Minneapolis is called the "City of Lakes", it's not legal to swim in them.
Minneapolis' major lakes - including Lake Nokomis, Lake Hiawatha, Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, Cedar Lake, Brownie Lake, and Wirth Lake, are part of Minneapolis' Parks. And Minneapolis Parks and Recreation department prohibits swimming in their lakes, except at designated beaches.
