There are several athletes born in Minnesota, or who make their home in Minnesota, competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Here's a list of Minnesotan Olympic athletes to cheer for, including many from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Lindsay Whalen, Basketball. Born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, now living in Minneapolis, and playing on what some consider to the best strongest women's basketball team ever.
Maya Moore, Basketball. Maya plays for the Minnesota Lynx, and helped the Lynx to their 2011 championship while still just in her rookie year.
Seimone Augustus, Basketball. A native of Louisiana, but now living in Minneapolis and playing for the Minnesota Lynx, Seimone has already played basketball at the Olympics, on the women's team which took gold at Beijing 2008.
Brittany Viola, Diving. Born in St. Paul, now living in Florida, Brittany narrowly missed being selected for the 2004 Olympics, but this time will be representing the US in diving.
Susie Scanlan, Fencing. Born in St. Paul and still a resident of the Twin Cities, Susie will be representing the US in epee fencing.
Kevin Love, Basketball. The leading scorer for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin is representing the US in basketball.
Chas Betts, Wrestling. Chas was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and now lives in Colorado. He wrestles in the 84kg weight class.
Megan Kalmoe, Rowing. Megan was born in Minneapolis, calls St. Croix falls home. This is her second Olympics - she rowed in the women's double sculls in Beijing 2008.
Kelci Bryant, Diving. Born in Illinois, but now living in Minneapolis, Kelci has already made one trip to the Olympics, competing in the synchronized 3 meter springboard in Beijing 2008, finishing just outside the medals in fourth place.
Kara Goucher, Track & Field. Born in Queens, NY but her home town is Duluth. Kara made her Olympic debut in Beijin in 2008, competing in the 5,000m and the 10,000m events, and finishing in the top 10 in both events. In London, she'll be competing in the women's Marathon.
Shani Marks, Track and Field. Shani graduated from the University of Minnesota, and lives and trains in the Twin Cities. She's a two time indoor and outdoor US champion in the triple jump, so we hope she'll add another medal in Beijing.
Ali Bernard, Wrestling. Ali will be competing in her second Olympics. The New Ulm, MN native will be competing in the women's freestyle wrestling, 72kg/158.5 lbs.
Lindsey Berg, Volleyball. Lindsey was born in Hawaii, but now lives in Minneapolis. She lead the volleyball team to a silver medal in Beijing, and is returning to the team in London.
