Guide Review - Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream Shops in Minneapolis
It's not easy selling ice cream when it's colder outside than in the freezer. Out of all the ice cream shops in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Sebastian Joe's does the best job of enticing customers in all year round.
There's two Sebastian Joe's stores in Minneapolis. One is in Uptown, and the other, my favorite, one is the Linden Hills location. The friendly staff, hot coffee and cozy fireplace make ice cream an all-season treat.
There is a pretty summer patio, and plenty of space inside and out.
They brew up great coffee drinks, offer free wi-fi, and it's a comfortable, friendly place to meet friends, or work fueled by caffeine and sugar.
But their ice cream is just not that great. It doesn't have the flavor of some of the Twin Cities' other ice cream stores. I've tried several flavors of the many, many, they churn, but they all taste the same - cold.
I know people who love their ice cream, and Sebastian Joe's has won plenty of "Best Of" awards from local media. Perhaps I visited on their only six bad days in history.
I hate to be down on such a great local, independent company that has everything else right. I'm still a customer, I love to meet friends at Sebastian Joe's on summer evenings, and it's where I get coffee when I'm in Linden Hills. I just wish their ice cream was better.
