Guide Review - Figlio's Restaurant, Uptown Minneapolis
Figlio's is good for groups, with good sized round tables to sit eight and everyone be able to chat. It also has intimate corners and great window seats.
Figlio's is in the Calhoun Square mall on the corner of Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street. One wall is mostly large windows looking out onto the most happening intersection in the Twin Cities, so a window table is perfect for people-watching.
The Bloody Marys are excellent, and the signature dish, Joe's Eggs, made with spicy sausage, arugula, onions, mushrooms and parmesan cheese, is delicious. Great for brunch, and even better as a late-night dinner. Served with rosemary potatoes, the dish is tasty but a bit dry, so you'd better like tomato sauce with them. Figlio's benedict is excellent, made with local heirloom tomatoes when they are in season, and many other dishes also take advantage of Minnesotan ingredients.
The blueberry and lemon breads that accompanied our brunch were a lovely treat.
The service was fast, the food was very good, the location can't be beat, and one day I'd love to go back for dinner. Figlio's evening happy hours are great value, so I'm sure I'll be heading back there soon.
