Celebrate Valentine's Day with your children at these kid-friendly Valentine's Day events in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
1. Minnetonka Kids' Fest, February 12
Lots of fun things to do at the annual Minnetonka Kids' Fest. Face painting, swimming, geocaching, ice skating, s'mores, dog sled rides, crafts, entertainment and more. All the events are a lovely price - free.
2. Love Stinks! Valentine's Party At the Childrens Museum of Minnesota
Are hugs and kisses icky? If your little darling thinks so, then take them to the Grossology exhibit at the Minnesota Children's Museum, which teaches kids how their bodies work: the educational activities are disguised as farts and snot and burps. On February 11, there will be a Valentine's Day party with real live bugs to meet, and a cookie decorating activity. (I presume the bugs and cookies will be separate.) 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., free with museum entry, $1 for cookie decorating.The Grossology exhibit will be at the Minnesota Children's Museum from January 21 - May 31.
3. Valentine's Day Craft Workshops at KidCreate, February 11-14
Your little artist can create a handmade project and cards for Valentine's Day at one of kiddie art studio KidCreate's Valentine's Day classes. KidCreate is in Eden Prairie.
KidCreate has two sets of classes, one for 18 months - 3 years, held Monday February 13, 9:30-10:15 am,
And, one class for kids 3 years - 9 years, will be held Saturday February 11, 2:30-4:00 pm.
4. "We Love Our Customers" Sale at Red Balloon, February 14
The Red Balloon children's book store in St. Paul has an annual Valentine's Day sale - all the books in the store are 14% off.
5. Creative Kidstuff Valentine's Day Craft Workshop, February 11
All six metro-area locations of kid's store Creative Kidstuff will be holding a free craft workshop for little ones to make a Valentine's Day mailbox. Bring a box to decorate - all the other supplies are provided. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., February 11, Free.
