New organizers for the Cinco de Mayo fiesta in Westide St. Paul this year, the festival is being put on by the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation. Many of the elements from years past are being retained - there will beThe Cinco de Mayo fiesta has entertainment, music, dancing, food, a low rider car show, children's activities, a history area, and a parade.
The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta events are at several locations along Cesar Chavez Street in Westside St. Paul on Sunday May 5, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Cinco de Mayo at El Nuevo Rodeo
El Nuevo Rodeo, the Latin dance club and restaurant on Minneapolis' Lake Street has two days of Cinco de Mayo celebrations, on Saturday and Sunday.
On May 5, Street food, Mexican beer tasting, children’s activities, clowns, and entertainment for the entire family, Mariachi, folkloric dance, live music, title fights on large screens - 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at El Nuevo Rodeo.
And the next day, Sunday May 6, El Nuevo Rodeo will have a block party with have two stages, one inside, one outside, for music, dancing and entertainment, plus street food, Mexican beer, jumpers and clowns for the kids and entertainment for the entire family. 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Cinco de Mayo Food and Events at Mexican Restaurants
The highest concentrations of real Mexican restaurants like La Poblanita are along East Lake Street in south Minneapolis. Try Mercado Central, the Latin American marketplace at 1515 East Lake Street, which has ten Mexican restaurants and bakeries.
And then there's the trendy Mexican restaurants on Eat Street, Downtown and Uptown, like Bar Abiline, Pepitos, Masa, Salsa a la Salsa, and Pancho Villa's.
Laredo's in St. Louis Park has food and drink specials and a live DJ.
In St. Paul, La Cucharacha is sure to be busy. Senor Wong is a Mexican/Asian fusion restaurant in downtown. Most authentic Mexican restaurants in St. Paul are in the District del Sol in the Westside, many on Cesar Chavez Street.
Cinco de Mayo at Corcoran Park, Minneapolis
Corcoran Park in Minneapolis holds an annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, but specific dates have yet to be announced.
