September 23 - 26: North Branch Fall Harvest Festival Arts and crafts, family activities, plus plenty of delicious food, at North Branch Central Park.
September 26: 13th Annual Franconia Arts & Music Festival a little way out of the metro area, but worth the trip. Franconia is home to an impressive sculpture garden, and this weekend, over 20 musical acts and other entertainment celebrate Franconia's artists and their work.
September 26: Fall Raptor Release a day of live music, children's activities, the opportunity to meet the Raptor Center's educational birds. Then, watch as rehabilitated raptors are returned to the wild. At the Carpenter Nature Center in Hastings.
September 26: A Prairie Home Companion Annual Meatloaf Supper and Street Dance: beloved Minnesota festival takes place in downtown St. Paul, outside the Minnesota Public Radio studios. Listen to a live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion, live music and join the street dance for free; get a meatloaf and mashed potato supper for $5.
September 26 - 27: Afton Art in the Park Fine art and crafts at this art fair in the gorgeous St. Croix valley.
September 26 - 27: Issac Newton Day Dreaming Days Minnetonka Orchards celebrates that guy who discovered gravity when a falling apple woke him from a nap under a tree. There will be lots of apple-related events, and do you have an impressive beard? The visitor with the longest beard wins a pair of tractor underwear.
September 26 - 27, and weekends through Hallowe'en: Hallowe'en Haunt at ValleySCARE! It's almost that time of year again... Hallowe'en comes to Valleyfair with ghosts, ghouls and goblins to scare the pants off guests in the evening, and trick-or-treating for younger children during the day.
September 27: Mid-Autumn Moon Lantern Festival this festival celebrates Vietnamese fall harvest traditions. The free festival has storytelling, food, children's games, and then in the evening, a parade and lantern lighting in Rice Park in downtown St. Paul.
September 27: Medieval Fair at Caponi Art Park If you were missing the Renaissance Festival, you can get more olde worlde festivities including heraldry, musicians, dancing and food at the Caponi Art Park today.
