August 23 - September 3: Minnesota State Fair "The Great Minnesota Get-Together" runs all this week, through Labor Day. You and the other 1.6 million annual visitors can enjoy the thrill rides, livestock, more than fifty types of food on sticks, big-name entertainment and fireworks every night.

Until September 3: Sparky the Sea Lion Show Your last chance to see the Sparky the Sea Lion show before the summer-only show's season ends. At Como Zoo.

September 1 - 3, and September 8 and 9: The Minnesota Renaissance Festival opens its doors again for the holiday weekend, and every weekend in September.

September 1 - 3: Minnetonka Orchard's Open House free admission to this family-run apple farm, and free music and hayrides this weekend.

September 1 until October 28: Shafer Corn Maze four miles of paths in the shape of a alien, plus a smaller maze for little children, plus more spooky activities by night, plus a petting zoo and pumpkins for sale.

September 1 - September 3: Valleyfair's Labor Day Weekend Corn Feast Valleyfair and Green Giant have teamed up to give guests all the free corn on the cob they can eat all weekend. Who thinks it's a good idea to gorge yourself on corn, and then go on a thrill ride? Yes? Then Valleyfair is the place for you!

September 3: Labor Day.

September 5 - 9: Burnsville Fire Muster This community event has a block party on Wednesday 5th, the world's longest fire truck parade on Sunday 8th, plus more kids' activities, food, fireworks, helicopter rides, and music.

September 6 - 8: Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival is a free music festival held in Mears Park, downtown St. Paul, encompassing classical, world, jazz, rock and indie music.

September 7 - 9: American Pottery Festival celebrates American ceramic artists' work at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis' Seward neighborhood.

September 8: Excelsior Apple Day Art, antiques, children's parade, and farmer's market. Held on Main Street in downtown Excelsior.

September 8 - 9: Hay Days Grass Drags, claimed to be the largest snowmobile event in the world, and it's in the summer too. Watch snowmobiles racing on their immaculate grass tracks, as well as a swap meet, vendors and entertainment. Excited for winter yet?

September 8 - 9: James J. Hill Days, an old-fashioned community festival in Wayzata with music, soapbox derby, children's activities, and dachshund races.

September 8 - 9: Annual Grape Stomp Festival prizes for the best grape stompers, complimentary wine tasting, vineyard and winery tours, and live music at Stillwater's Saint Croix Vineyards.

September 9: Eagan Art House - Harvest of Art Show features art activities, demonstrations, tours, a pottery sale and refreshments. The works will be on display until November 2.
