February 20-23: The 22nd Annual International Eel Pout Festival Is it worth driving four hours north for the Eel Pout Festival? The annual ice fishing contest, and three days of sporting events, entertainment, furry hats, bribery, bikinis, music, food, and interesting ice houses, is something to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

February 20-22: Red Bull Crashed Ice is back in Minnesota again for qualifying round of the downhill ice skating event. The course will be set up outside St. Paul's Cathedral. 

February 21-23: Winter Golf Competition: The Skyway Open There's two indoor golf competitions that benefit local non-profit organizations this weekend. The Skyway Open runs from February 21 until February 23, and has 18 architect-designed holes in Minneapolis' skyways. The scramble golf tournament is open to all, and there's prizes up for grabs for the best golfers. The Skyway Open benefits the Boys and Girls Club.

February 22: 21st Annual Grumpy Old Men Ice Fishing Tournament The Grumpy Old Men movie, set in Wabasha and filmed in nearby locations, was the inspiration for this tournament, held at the Mississippi Parkside Marina in Wabasha. Wabasha is about two hours south of Minneapolis.

February 26 - March 2: The Minneapolis Home and Garden Show Timed to coincide with spring cleaning and remodeling, the annual Home and Garden show is held at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
