August 18 - August 19: The Minnesota Renaissance Festival opening weekend. The Renaissance Festival is open on weekends and Labor Day until September 30. Jousting, food, music, crafts, animals, characters and entertainers in Shakopee. One of the best places for people watching in the Twin Cities. Don't forget your fairy wings!
August 18 - August 19: Civil War Weekend at Fort Snelling. Military demonstrations, period costumes, displays, dancing and more takes visitors back to Civil War Minnesota.
