July 30 - August 9: Minnesota Fringe Festival has over 100 shows and performances at venues across Minneapolis and St. Paul.

July 31 - August 2: Little Canada Canadian Days celebrate Little Canada's relationship with it's sister city, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Parades, a classic car show, fireworks, and a carnival.

July 31 - August 2: Old-Time Harvest Steam & Gas Engine Festival Tractor heaven in Jordan, south west of the Metro. Vintage farm equipment, demonstrations, animals, live music and a "Kiddie Tractor Pull". If your four-year-old doesn't have a tractor, you'll be pleased to hear that Festival is providing them.

August 1: Hot Metal Pour About 45 minutes north-east of the Metro Area is the Franconia Sculpture Park, home of the annual Hot Metal Pour. (Most people know this event by the old name, the Iron Pour.) Artists will be making casts, and you can make your own castings, starting at $25. Food and beverages will be available, and there's live music in the evening.

August 1: Freedom Jazz Festival This is the tenth year of the free, family friendly community jazz festival, held at Minnehaha Park.

August 1: Hanover Harvest Festival has a flea market, fireworks, sporting contests, pie eating contests, and more family entertainment.

August 2: Paws On Grand. Lots of dog and pet related sales and activities on St. Paul's Grand Avenue.

August 2 - August 9: Stockyard Days in New Brighton has a parade, street dancing, water fun at Long Lake Park, live local music, and a car show.

August 5 : Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival is a free event held in the evening at Hiawatha Park in Minneapolis. There will have lots of games and activities for younger children including canoe rides and a sandcastle building contest.

August 6 - August 9: Rhubarb Frenzy The WineHaven Vineyard in Chisago Lakes also makes Rhubarb wine, and hosts their 11th annual Rhubarb Frenzy, and first-of-the-season Rhubarb wine tasting. Tasting is complimentary, and there will be live music and vineyard tours.

August 7 - August 9: Irish Fair of Minnesota is held on Harriet Island, downtown St. Paul, with Irish entertainment including music, dance, sports, children's activities and Irish food and drink. Free.

August 7 - August 9: Uptown Art Fair is one of the top ten art fairs in the country, and the largest of three happening on this weekend. Last year $2.5 million in art was sold at the fair. This year, over 350 artists will be selling unique and limited edition items at venues around the Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue intersection in Uptown Minneapolis.

August 7 - August 9, August 14 - 16: Minnesota Game Fair This is one of the nation's largest sportsman's fairs, held outdoors in Anoka County this and next weekend.

August 8 - August 9: Powderhorn Art Fair Art and fine craft fair held at Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis.

August 8 - August 9: Loring Park Art Festival is the third art fair this weekend, with more art and fine crafts in Loring Park, near downtown Minneapolis.

August 8 - August 9: Corn Days Family Days family entertainment, live music, a parade, and lots of fresh roasted corn in Long Lake.

August 8 - August 8: Family Farm Festival at the Minnesota Zoo has music, farm animals to meet, and wagon rides.

August 8 - August 9: Civil War Weekend at Fort Snelling. Military demonstrations, period costumes, displays, dancing and more takes visitors back to Civil War Minnesota.
