Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Wisconsin and designed many homes and other buildings in the upper Midwest. There are several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Minnesota, although almost all are private homes and not open to the public. One Frank Lloyd Wright home in Minneapolis was recently restored and is open to the public on occasional open houses. The most accessible Frank Lloyd Wright building is a gas station in Cloquet, northern Minnesota, which is still operating as a gas station.
While there are only a few homes that can be visited, we are close to Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright's summer home in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Taliesin is open to the public in the summer months, with an opening date of May 1 in 2013. Travel time to Taliesin from the Twin Cities is about 4.5 hours.
