Volunteering at Christmas in Minneapolis

One of the best, and most meaningful gifts you can give this Holiday season is volunteering for the Holidays. There are many ways to help out. You can join in with high-profile campaigns like the Salvation Army bell ringers, or serve holiday meals, visit with seniors, help out at a shelter, or organize co-workers or family to put together holidays baskets or baby supplies for needy new moms.

Popular Holiday volunteer spots fill quickly, and organizations can be almost overwhelmed by the demand at Christmas. If what you want to do is already full, you can either donate goods, or money. Or, promise yourself to volunteer in the new year, when demand on social services is just as great, but the number of volunteers is a fraction of that during the holidays. Whatever you do - thank you for helping out!

Here's some organizations who offer Holiday volunteer opportunities. You can also ask at your church, community organization, school, or nearby non-profit and offer your help there.

Hi I am a peer money mentor at St. Catherine. I’ve seen that you wrote many free things to do in the Twin cities area! Is there a chance you can come in as a guest speaker for the student at st. kate? If so that would be great because we’re trying to help students to find cheap or free things to do around this area that would fit their budget. Please email me back at mglor@stkate.edu
