Nice Ride MN, the local bike sharing scheme, has been very successful in encouraging Twin Cities to borrow and ride their lovely bright green bikes about the cities. The scheme, launched in Minneapolis and now expanding to locations across St. Paul, is a no-commitment way to own a bike, and a neat way to get across town without having to worry traffic, or about safely locking up your bike when you arrive.
Now Nice Ride gets even nicer - they are giving away 100,000 free bike helmets. Concerned about how to co-ordinate with a bright green Nice Ride bike? Not to worry, because the helmets are a matching shade of green.
At the moment, it's up to each cyclist whether to wear a helmet or not, but wearing a properly fitted bike helmet can guard against head injuries in an accident, and Nice Ride MN, and most experts, recommend wearing a helmet when cycling. Convinced? Nice Ride MN is giving away helmets to Nice Ride MN members, and to non-members, at events across the Twin Cities. Sign up for email alerts for free helmet events, or follow Nice Ride MN's Facebook page.
Is your head too important to wait for a free helmet? Freewheel Bike will give you a 20% discount on any Trek cycle helmet, any time, at either of their Minneapolis stores if you have ever used a Nice Ride Bike - just bring in your receipt or proof of your membership.
And you can find more information on the Nice Ride bike sharing scheme at www.NiceRideMN.org.
