The Minnesota AFL-CIO is planning to rally at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in support of Wisconsin union workers.

For the past several days, protests in Wisconsin have seen thousands of demonstrators on the streets of Madison and other cities. It's in response to new Republican Governor Scott Walker's proposed measures to reduce collective bargaining rights and benefits for public workers. The Governor says the cuts are necessary to balance Wisconsin's budget.

More information on the protests in Wisconsin from the Wisconsin Governor's Office, and from Wisconsin State ALF-CIO.

The protests in Wisconsin have drawn attention from across the country, and especially so in Minnesota, in part because many Minnesota residents have strong Wisconsin connections. If you'd like to go and show your support, here's the details for the solidarity rally at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.
