See the Minnesota RollerGirls and Minnesota Swarm at the Xcel Center: January 29

Follow me on:

The Minnesota RollerGirls usually fight their roller derby bouts at St. Paul's Roy Wilkins Auditorium. And one date next year, they get to play in a much larger venue.

The Minnesota Swarm lacrosse team, and the Minnesota Rollergirls are part of a unique double header on January 29. The Minnesota Swarm and Minnesota RollerGirls will play one after the other at the Xcel Energy Center.

Another reason to go: you could be part of a record. The record for largest roller derby crowd currently stands around 6,000 and is held by Seattle's Rat City Rollergirls. The capacity of the Xcel Energy Center is around 18,000 depending on how the arena is set up, so it's possible that the Minnesota Rollergirls could obliterate that record. Whether they break the record or not, there will certainly be smashing, breaking and obliterating on the track that evening. And lacrosse, too.  Tickets are $20 online and from the Rollergirls and Swarm's usual ticket outlets.
