May I recommend this for anyone who works in downtown St. Paul, and for moms of girls? On the second Tuesday of the month, the Landmark Center hosts the St. Paul City Ballet for a lunchtime performance. Several dancers from the company perform short excerpts from their holiday show, The Enchanted Toy Shop, as well as demonstrating some of the positions and dance moves used in ballet.
I took a little boy and little girl to Ballet Tuesday last month. As well as ballet fans and office workers, several other preschool age girls were in the audience, and were mesmerized by the dancers, the music and the beautiful costumes. But I soon realized why all the rest of the kids in the audience were girls - four-year-old boys think ballet is boring. Just wait until you are older, my son, and you'll see ballerinas in a whole new light.
The next Ballet Tuesday is at the Landmark Center on Rice Park in downtown St. Paul on November 9, at 12 noon. The event is free.
