Barebones Puppets Presents Carnetheria

By , About.com GuideOctober 22, 2010

Follow me on:

The Annual Halloween Puppet Extravaganza, produced by BareBones Puppets, begins on Friday in St. Paul. This is no mere puppet show. Carnetheria is inspired by Ray Bradbury's novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes and shares concerns about the exploitation of the earth's resources by the complacent use of energy and technology.

Giant puppets, bike puppets, masks and costumes, song and dance, stilting and aerialism with performers from Aerial Collective, fire artistry, and original music by a live orchestra, Carnetheria promises to be the extravaganza that BareBones are billing it as.

There are five shows this year.

Saturday October 23
Sunday October 24
Friday October 29
Saturday October 30 (ASL Interpreted)
Sunday October 31

All shows begin at 7 p.m. at Hidden Falls Park in St. Paul. The shows are free but donations are suggested.

I was trying to plan out Halloween activities for my kids using your information, but a lot of your dates are conflicting. I tried to look up the BareBones dates but they were conflicting with the actual website. I tried to look up the Edinborough event and yet, you have the 23rd listed and it is actually the 29th. Please check and double check your information.

Thank you

HOW EXCITING! I JUST CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE SHOW!! It is so very nice to see that something is being offered to do for Holloween besides hayrides and pumkin patches (they are o.k., mind you, but when you hit the end of your 40’s, you have seen quite your amount of pumkin patches) And, I guess I would’nt mind the Scarey Hayrides they have available for adults, but then, there will always be the high pitched screaming of the teenage girls, ugh, my ears say. So, furthermore, Thanks so much for offering this as a Holloween adventure. I am just thrilled, and I know I will enjoy every minute.
