The weather forecast is a little stormy this week, but if there's a fine day, why not head to a pick-your-own farm for some fresh strawberries? Local berry farms have early morning and evening hours, so you don't need to be a kid on summer vacation to go - you can even visit before or after work.
Afton Apple Orchards in Hastings is open seven days a week, 7am - 7pm. Call to check on picking conditions and to verify hours before driving out. Afton Apple Orchards also has lots of homemade strawberry products in their gift shop.
Bauer Berry Farms in Champlin are open seven days a week from 7am - 1pm. They will be adding evening hours this week - check their website or call 763 421-4384 for hours, and to check the picking conditions before you make the drive out.
There's about a week and a half of strawberry season left. But don't fret if you don't make it to the farm for strawberries - blueberry season is coming up in July, and raspberry season starts in mid August.
