Izzy's has made Surly Darkness ice cream, and the Sample Room just created a Fulton Beer dinner for St. Patrick's Day that finished with chocolate stout cake and beer ice cream. Not edible, but also containing beer: Bryn Mawr soap company's Summit soap. and now Minneapolis bakery Salty Tart is baking Surly Furious cupcakes. The chocolate-beer cupcakes are, according to City Pages, extremely yummy.
I haven't tried a Surly cupcake yet, but I can vouch that beer ice cream is also extremely yummy. If beer ice cream gets back on the menu at Izzy's, or some other ice cream parlor and beer company does their own version, it's salvation for those summer days when it's hot but still too early for a pint of beer. So what would work on a not-quite-summer day when it's still too early for a beer? I'm pretty sure that it will, but I'll be heading for the Salty Tart to verify that a Surly cupcake would indeed fit the bill.
