Today's high temperature in Minneapolis was a record-breaking 64 degrees, two degrees higher than the previous record of 62 degrees, which occurred in 1990, 1973, and 1878. We might have had a shorter day with Daylight Savings Time, but it was certainly a beautiful day and evening too.
The high temperatures brought new flood warnings for several places in Minnesota, including parts of the Twin Cities. The high temperatures and rapid snow melt is causing ice jams on rivers, which are reaching flood levels earlier than usual. The cities of Fargo and Moorhead, who suffered severe flooding last year, have sandbags at the ready just in case.
Interestingly, a Minnesota city has some of the USA's most interesting weather. Rochester is third on the list of cities with the most variation in temperature, wind, rain and snow, and severe weather. Love it or hate it, I think that we can all agree that Minnesota certainly does have interesting weather.
