21 Minnesota-based athletes are going to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and several more Minnesota-born athletes are also on Team USA, one of the most notable being Lindsey Vonn.
Vonn was born in St. Paul, and spend her early years in Apple Valley, skiing on the Buck Hill Ski Racing team, before her family moved to Vail, Colo., the perfect place for her to become a record breaking downhill skier and America's most successful female World Cup skier.
She's competing in five events: Ladies' Downhill, Ladies' Super Combined, Ladies' Super-G, Ladies' Slalom, Ladies' Giant Slalom, and her chances are great for winning Olympic gold.
To celebrate, Buck Hill are having a Olympic viewing party on February 17, 6.30 p.m. - 10 p.m., at the ski area's Buckstone Lodge. One person who comes to cheer Lindsay on will win a trip to Vail, and there will be a silent auction for a pair of skis signed by Lindsey, to benefit Buck Hill's ski racing team.
Who else from Minnesota will be competing at the Winter Olympic Games? Here's the full list of Minnesota athletes going to Vancouver. Go Minnesota!
