Assuming you don't think the world is going to end at the strike of new year (or is that 2012? Or 2025? Whatever.) Here's some things to look forwards to in 2010.

  • Frozen Art: Art Shanty Project, artist-designed ice fishing houses, opens with Art Cars and entertainment on Medicine Lake in Plymouth from January 16-February 7. And in Minneapolis, the Powderhorn Park Art Sled Rally is on January 30, to which you can bring your own custom creation, or bring hot a flask of chocolate and watch intrepid inventors hurl down the slope in their own designs.
  • The Winter Carnival is excited about the return of the Original Ice Fishing Competition at White Bear Lake, the first ice fishing competition at the carnival for almost 30 years.
  • Baseball fans only have a little more than three months to wait before the Minnesota Twins play their first home game at the brand new Target Field in downtown Minneapolis.
  • Perform your civic duty and save taxpayers dollars by filling out your census forms - they should be arriving at your house sometime in March.
  • The Bingham Cup, the international gay rugby union tournament, will be played at the National Sports Center in Blaine, June 18-20.
  • Get dirty in Minneapolis with the trail running, mountain biking and mud pit finale race Muddy Buddy, premiering in the Twin Cities on August 22.

Welcome, 2010!
