Aquatennial Events: Fire and Water in Minneapolis

This year is the 70th anniversary of the Aquatennial, Minneapolis' summer festival of fun on the lakes and Mississippi River. The Aquatennial opened on Friday night with the opening Block Party in downtown Minneapolis, and this weekend saw water ski shows, milk carton boat races and a sandcastle building contest. The party continues this week, with more of our favorite Aquatennial events. What's happening for the Aquatennial this week?

Wednesday July 22: CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade lights up Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis, from the Basilica of St. Mary to Fifth Street. The parade begins at 8.30 p.m.

Saturday July 25: Xcel Energy RiverBlast is a free family festival in the Mill District of downtown Minneapolis. Food, live music and entertainment from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. precedes the...

Saturday July 25: Target Fireworks Show, the best fireworks in Minneapolis. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. for the grand finale to the Aquatennial.
