Last week, I half-seriously declared that there was nothing that could top Taste of Minnesota's Friday night entertainment of Judas Priest and Whitesnake. Turns out I was totally wrong - the festival organizers announced today that Elvis Costello and the Imposters will be playing on Saturday night, July 4. The support act for that night is still... to be announced.
Tickets for Taste of Minnesota are $10 and include $10 of food and beverages. The four-day festival is held at Harriet Island in downtown St. Paul.
Another very popular festival at Harriet Island is the annual Irish Fair, will be held this year August 7-9. The Irish Fair's organizers are also just confirming musical acts. So far, Solas, the Young Dubliners and Salsa Celtica have been confirmed, and the top secret Friday night headlining act will be announced on June 19. They say that the 2009 Irish Fair will have one of the best line ups ever. I'm quite prepared to be proved wrong again, if I say that Flogging Molly, the 2008 headline band, would be just about impossible to beat? Let's see...
