Now you have more options that just plain eating your Easter candy. St. Paul coffee shop Java Train is celebrating Easter in a sugary, caffeinated, drinkable way. Until Easter, their beverage menu offers Marshmallow Peeps Latte, and Cadbury's Creme Egg Mocha coffees, and Jelly Belly Slushies. The Cadbury's Creme Egg mocha is really good although I don't want to know how many calories it had in it. Easter only comes once a year, right?
Java Train is in the Como neighborhood, and is one of St. Paul's coolest coffee shops. Divided in two, with a traditional coffee shop on one side, and a children's playroom on the other. The playroom has a train caboose play house and plenty of toys for tots. Outside, there is a neon graffiti, a patio, sandbox, more toys and another playhouse shaped like a water tower. The first spring day that I need caffeine I'll be taking my kids there.
As well as the Easter drinks, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 4 at 11 a.m. at Java Train.
Another novel way to use Peeps: the annual Pioneer Press Peeps Diorama Contest. The competition format devised by the newspaper has been copied across the nation. Enter the original contest by building your own diorama featuring Peeps, and submitting it to the Pioneer Press before April 1.
