December 20: Snow Emergency Declared in Minneapolis and St. Paul

Saturday December 20, 2008
The first Snow Emergencies of the winter have been called in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In both cities, Snow Emergency parking regulations go into effect at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, so if you park on the street, you'll need to move your car to avoid being towed.

Traditionally, the first Snow Emergency of the year results in hundreds of cars being towed in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The fee to get a car out of the impound lots is painful at almost $300. Don't let it happen to you or the people you know. Find out what parking rules apply to the roads where you park your car, and let your family and friends know that a Snow Emergency has been called.

Other cities around the metro area have their own rules for parking in the winter, most restrict or prohibit evening and overnight street parking after heavy snowfalls like today so the plows can clear the streets. Check the city's website for the specific parking rules that apply.
