Twin Cities Breast Cancer Three Day Walk: September 19-21

Monday September 15, 2008
On Friday, thousands of walkers will begin a three day journey around the Twin Cities. The Breast Cancer 3 Day walk benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure charity, a nationwide organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer.

The event begins early on Friday morning at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, and 60 miles later, ends at the Minnesota State Capitol on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Mostly women walk, many who have been personally affected, or have loved ones affected by breast cancer. And men walk too: here in the Twin Cities all-male groups like Dudes for Boobs join in. You could consider that an inappropriate name if you didn't know it was formed by the brother of a Eagan women who died of the disease in 2006. They've raised almost $10,000 this year.

There's still time to donate to your favorite team: look them up on the 3 Day website, or donate directly to the Susan G Komen for the Cure.

If you can't stretch to a financial contribution, you can still help. Cheering stations will be set up along the course on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for people to show support for the walkers. Here's the list of cheering stations.
