ArtCar Parade and Movie: Saturday July 19, Minneapolis
You can't keep a good ArtCar down. Even though there's no traditional ArtCar parade in 2008, the indomitable automobiles will be cruising in Minneapolis this weekend.
You'll have a couple of opportunities to see the cars on Saturday July 19. In the morning, the ArtCars will be at Midtown Farmer’s Market from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
In the evening, the ArtCars will roll around Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. After the parade the cars will park in Intermedia Arts' parking lot (2822 South Lyndale Avenue, Minneapolis) to be admired up close. Perhaps not too close - some shoot flames! A movie - Harrod Blank’s Wild Wheels - will be shown in the parking lot after the parade. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the free showing of the documentary film about Art Cars across the country.
The cars have a couple more dates at local destinations in August.
Friday August 22, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.: 3-D ArtCar Slide Show, Midtown Global Market, Minneapolis
Enjoy great food from local vendors, children's art activities, see the ArtCars and a special 3D ArtCar slide show.
Sunday, August 31, 1 p.m.: Liberty Parade, Nicollet Avenue and Loring Park, Minneapolis
The ArtCars' last engagement of the summer... Celebrate freedom with the Liberty Parade, part of Intermedia Arts’ UnConvention program. ArtCars, floats, and other wheeled contraptions take over downtown Minneapolis’ Nicollet Avenue and head to Loring Park for an afternoon of entertainment.
