I-35 W Bridge: Before and After Exhibition Opens July 18
Hennepin County Medical Center in downtown Minneapolis was vitally important in the rescue efforts, emergency medical service, and care of many of the victims of the catastrophic I-35W bridge collapse on August 1 last year.
As part of the hospital and community's recovery, HCMC's Inspire Arts program is presenting an exhibition of photographs taken by local artist Tom Lane. The series of images show the bridge before and after the disaster, and the construction of the new bridge. The exhibition also includes a vase imprinted with images of the bridge, dedicated to the thirteen victims.
Visitors are invited to share their stories and to reflect on the impact the bridge collapse had on their lives.
The exhibition opens on July 18. The timing happens to coincide with a milestone in the rebuilding of the new bridge: this week, construction crews plan to connect the span across the river on the new I-35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge.
The exhibit is at HCMC in downtown Minneapolis, in the Orange 2-Red 2 skyway.
Free and open to the public 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily, July 18 through October 3, 2008.
