Who Makes Your Favorite Ice Cream?
Friday June 13, 2008
| Here's my favorite: Izzy's Ice Cream in St. Paul. Even if they weren't solar powered eco-warriors, their wild and wonderful ice cream flavors are pure frozen fabulousness.
And here's the rest of my list of ice cream parlors in the Twin Cities, the independent ones who make their own ice cream. Do you agree with my rankings? Vote for who you think makes the best ice cream in the poll! |

My favorite ice cream isn’t found in Minneapolis/St. Paul, unfortunately. It’s a little place called the Strasburg Creamery in Lancaster, PA. My SECOND favorite ice cream place is not out there either, unfortunately! It’s Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, which just came to my town. Thanks for this poll, though, because I’m going to have check those other places out (I’ve never even tried ‘em).
My favorite isn’t in the Twin Cities either. Growing up in Los Angeles we used to go to Thrifty Drug Stores for ice cream cones, and sometimes half-gallons. The Thrifty stores have been taken over by Rite-Aid now, but they still sell Thrifty brand ice cream. As far as I’m concerned it’s as good as the “designer” ice creams at a fraction of the cost.
I have been to a little place called Liberty Frozen Custard. It is amazing! They also serve Nathans Hot Dogs. If you are looking for a nice Sunday night ice cream with the family, this is your place.
