Around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning the emergency outdoor sirens, also known as tornado sirens, sounded across Ramsey County. In this case there was no cause for alarm, the county was testing the civil defense system, according to the Pioneer Press. Or perhaps it was inadvertently set off due to maintenance, as the National Weather Service reported? Whatever the cause, at least there was no actual emergency.
This afternoon and evening may be a different story. The weather service is predicting rain, hail, thunderstorms, damaging winds, and the possibility of a tornado this afternoon and evening. Please keep a watch on the weather, and be prepared for severe weather, and act immediately if the sirens do sound today.
