Sunday's Grand Old Day Parade

Grand Old Day is still happening as I write, so you still have time to get down there before the festivities end at 5 p.m. today. and if it's even later, several bars on Grand Avenue are having post-event parties this evening.

The Grand Old Day parade was lots of fun to watch, with several spectators commenting this year's parade was the best ever.

The Art Cars were wild and fun as always, and the guy driving the one with flames shooting out of the top deserves a medal for entertaining the crowd despite 80 degree heat. The Twin Cities Unicycle Club are dashing, daring and must have buns of steel to unicycle all that way. And top marks for inventiveness and effort go to the giant spine, made from about 20 people each dressed as a foam vertebra, marching in formation for Aspire Chiropractic.

And with lots more parade favorites like marching bands, dancers, fairies, ballerinas, trucks, horses, carnival princesses and princes, this Grand Old Day parade was a hit.
